Momentum

Today from 9-11 Donny and I taught preschoolers about Western Pond Turtles at Jewel Lake in Tilden Park, Berkeley.

From 11:30 until 13:30 I co-led the first informational meeting of the Berkeley Association for Postdoc Parents. We want to make Berkeley the most parent-friendly scientific community. This following one broke my heart. Isolation for the expatriate community is real:

” I want to take part in some classes about how to take care of a baby. My baby is 11-months old. She stays with me every day. She needs some friends. I need some skills for feeding her. I want to be a better mother.”

And from 16-18 I presented at Mary Power’s group meeting. I told people about my experiments last winter. About bacteria in sperm (milt) of brown trout.

This was one of the most important, interesting and rewarding days of my life. I love these people from all over the world. I love my life. I love my family.
